Students must be registered by their chorus instructor. Initial All-State Chorus Auditions occur in November, but the registration process takes place early each school year. Please check with your chorus director for specific details and deadlines.

Any questions regarding the second audition should be sent to your District Organizer or our state Choral Chair-Elect.

2024-2025 Chorus Solos (updated 8/7/2024)

7th-8th: Oh Shenandoah or Scarborough Fair
9th-10th: Per la Gloria
or Caro mio ben
11th-12th: Se florinda e fedele
or Lasciatemi morire!

There are two solo options for each grade bracket. However, students only have to select ONE of the two solos to perform at their audition. Providing two options allows your student(s) to select the solo that best fits their voice.

Starting Pitch
(FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS)

All MS singers will have flexibility of starting pitches based on the recommendation of their director. To be certain starting pitches represent the vocal range of the voice part for which the student is auditioning, suggested starting pitches might be: Soprano – Eb above middle C; Alto – middle C; Tenor – A below middle C; and Bass – Eb below middle C. High school boys experiencing vocal change will have some flexibility in requesting a starting pitch other than those listed on the website. Directors are asked to use professional judgment in assigning these pitches so that the range of the voice is still in the “area” of the voice part found in the repertoire of the senior high choirs.

Soprano 1: Begin at F above middle C
Soprano 2: Begin at Eb above middle C
Alto 1: Begin on middle C
Alto 2: Begin at Bb below middle C

Tenor 1: Begin at F below middle C
Tenor 2: Begin at Eb below middle C
Bass 1: Begin at C, an octave below middle C
Bass 2: Begin at Bb, a 9th below middle C
