The Future Music Educators Colloquium is
sponsored by GMEA to encourage high school students who are planning a
career in music education. Students are nominated for the colloquium by
their music teachers and the students who are selected for the colloquium
are invited to attend the GMEA In Service Conference in Savannah, Georgia.
At the conference, students attend special sessions designed for them led
by veteran music educators and students also attend many of the concerts
and clinics that are provided through GMEA. The program is entering its
fourth year and has been an outstanding success. The colloquium is led by
the two music educators who have long careers in our state and have many
years of service to GMEA.
Dear Band, Choral or
Orchestra Director:
The
deadline for the submission of Future Music Educators Colloquium (FMEC)
applications is Friday, October 17, 2008. This is rapidly
approaching! We wanted to let you know that your chance to submit name(s)
for this valuable activity is fast fading.
The
FMEC application process is simple:
1. Download the
application from the GMEA site (click on
“All Other Links” on left side of GMEA home page, then “FMEC” link).
2. Print out the
.pdf application form by clicking on the underlined link in the text.
3. Fill out one
application per recommended student, and mail or fax it in by the
deadline of Friday, October 17, 2008. Mail or fax to the GMEA
office directly (contact info on home page).
Notification of accepted students will occur via the recommending
director no later than 4 weeks past the application deadline.
PLEASE do not pass up this opportunity to serve your aspiring music
education student(s). The FMEC program has been a great success due the
quality, guided experience FMEA students gain at the GMEA In-Service
Conference. All details and information are available on the FMEC page
of the GMEA site.
Thanks,
Kathy Bizarth and Kerry
