The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and the Georgia Music Educators Association are pleased to announce that the ASO-GMEA Middle School String Project and the ASO-GMEA Middle School Band Project will be located in GMEA District 13 from Fall of 2007 through Spring of 2010. The ASO-GMEA Middle School String Projects provide area instrumental string students the opportunity to work closely with Atlanta Symphony Orchestra musicians either through All-State Clinics or District 13 Orchestra Clinics, and an afternoon concert open to the public. ASO-GMEA Middle School Band Projects offer band students the chance to work closely with ASO musicians in Instrumental Clinics, using All-State etudes as the basis of instruction. An afternoon concert for the community follows. Projects also provide opportunities for District 13 teachers and families to establish / strengthen ties with musicians of the ASO and to attend an ASO concert in Symphony Hall. The first event in the partnership will occur in September of 2007. We look forward to working with you, your students, and the GMEA District 13 community over the next three years.
